Celicia Pena is a 2009 graduate of Edgewood High School in Edgewood, MD and is currently attending Harford Community College, majoring in music. She is the daughter of Melvin & Charlotte Harris of Abingdon, MD, and the granddaughter of Jesus and Annie Rosario of Edgewood, MD. While in high school Celicia served as the Senior Class President, Varsity Cheerleading Captain, and President of the Spanish National Honor Society. She also participated in All-County Chorus, All-County Jazz Chorus and All-State Chorus. Celicia is currently a member of the Vipers All-Stars Cheerleading Squad and works full time while she attends school. Celicia is continuing the legacy started by her sister Cevina who was GSA’s Cherry Blossom Princess in 2003.

GSA History

The Society was established on April 3, 1952 as the Guam Territorial Society of Washington, D.C, a membership society under the Congressional Charter of the National Conference of State Societies (NCSS). The Society was incorporated on October 13, 1976 as a nonprofit corporation under the District of Columbia Nonprofit Corporation Act, and the name was changed to the Guam Society of America on July 3, 1986. In 2002, the GSA membership approved the change to the Bylaws extending the "Period of Service for elected officers from one year to two years.
GSA Mission
We're on a mission!
The Mission of the Guam Society of America, Inc. is to promote the culture and traditions of Guam, the native language of the indigenous people of Guam (Chamorro), and the welfare of Guam and the Guamanian people. The Society shall support and sponsor educational, cultural and social programs that foster its mission. The Society shall provide humanitarian aid (1) to victims of natural disasters and (2) for the relief of the poor, the distressed or the underprivileged.
